Self-Taught Abstract, Fluid & Texture Painter
Victoria Roney is a self-taught artist whose work is defined by fluid shapes, vibrant color harmonies, and dynamic textures. Through abstract forms, she explores emotions and moments in time, often incorporating joint compound, modeling paste, and found objects to add depth and intrigue. Her paintings serve as a visual diary, capturing feelings that are often easier to experience than to explain.
Born in Bogotá, Colombia, and raised in Buffalo, New York, Victoria began her creative journey studying Architecture and Studio Art before earning a degree in Finance from Canisius University. For years, her professional path kept her away from the easel. But in 2023, a family trip back to Colombia reignited her passion for creating, leading her to fully commit to her art in 2024.
Since then, she has honed her craft through self-directed study and experimentation, drawing on the beauty of the natural world, the resilience of wildlife, and the complexity of human emotions. Her practice extends beyond the studio: Victoria collaborates with community organizations to foster creativity as a form of healing, recently leading a fabric collage workshop for all ages at a community event hosted by CulTrue Inc. and Eat Off Art.
Currently, she is developing a new body of work that merges heavily textured surfaces with fluid, abstract compositions, while continuing her mission to create welcoming, healing spaces where people of all backgrounds can connect through art.
Victoria believes that art is a transformative force—capable of sparking both personal reflection and collective unity. Free from the constraints of formal training, she allows intuition to guide her process, creating work that encourages others to reconnect with their inner selves and embrace the limitless possibilities of creative expression.
